Chapter 9: Lake Water Quality

9.7 Aquatic Fish and Wildlife

Aquatic wildlife is part of a lakes ecosystem. Aquatic animals require a watery habitat, but do not necessarily have to live entirely in water. Fish make up the most perceptible of aquatic wildlife, but aquatic wildlife can also include plankton, mussels, insects, mammals, and birds. The Pelican group of Lakes has shown a healthy variety and quantity of species. Since fishing is one of the states greatest pastimes much of the chapter will focus on these animals.
