Little Pelican chlorophyll-a at site 202 has been monitored from 2003 to 2007, and has an average of 8.5 ppb. This algae concentration is higher than in Big Pelican Lake (5.2 ppb). 2007 Results In 2007, the chlorophyll-a concentration in Little Pelican Lake averaged 11.6 ppb. These results are higher than the historical average (8.5 ppb). Table 2. 2007 Chlorophyll-a results.
There was a spike in algal concentration in the August 24th sample, but this is natural. Algal concentrations are generally highest in August when the conditions are ideal for algae growth (bright sun, hot, calm weather). Chlorophyll-a historical results: 2003-2007:
