Chapter 8: Impacting Streams and Rivers

8.3.3  Lake Ida Outlet

The Lake Ida outlet is mainly for overflow when the lake is high. It is a man-made structure set at a certain water level. When the water level raises above the set structure, overflow flows into Spring Creek.

Water samples are only taken at the Lake Ida outlet when the water level is high enough to be flowing. This usually occurs in the spring. Therefore, the results from this site are not representative of year-round conditions.

The Lake Ida outlet is a 29 x 18 inch concrete culvert. view calculator

Water Quality

The Ida outlet is a dam for Ida Lake. When the water reaches a certain level it flows over the structure. Averaged data from the Ida outlet could be distorted since samples are taken monthly. A more accurate calculation of the monthly flow would be the number of days flowing times the flow rate divided by the number of days in the month. Flow at the Ida outlet ranges from 0 to 16 cfs of water. view graphs
