Bob Creek inlet Total Suspended Solids TSS is a measure of suspended particles in water. These particles can be soil from erosion and/or algae. High TSS corresponds with low water transparency and clarity. Bob Creek has excellent water clarity even up stream into the wetlands area. The TSS concentration ranges from 1-8 mg/L, which is relatively low compared with Spring Creek ( 1 to 17 mg/L ). 2007 was a typical year for TSS concentrations and loading. The peak in loading in May of 2007 (as seen in the graph below) corresponded with an above average rainfall of 2.5 inches.
The TSS loading increases with large rainfalls due to overland runoff:
